Southwick Regional School Defeats Granby High School 5-1

Five scorers, one clear advantage

Andrey Saykin, Kevin Banks, Darren Sposato, Aaden Filipiak and Artem Krokhmalyuk reportedly scored once each for Southwick. The spread of goals gave Granby several problems to solve rather than allowing the match to revolve around one attacking player.

Southwick was also said to have scored three goals before half-time, establishing control early. Filipiak made the biggest contribution beyond his goal, providing two assists in the opening period. Landon Roberts added another assist before the interval.

The reported result moves Southwick to a 10-2-1 record, a run that places the team among the stronger performers in its schedule.

Granby faced pressure at both ends

Granby’s only goal reportedly came from Brandon Carillon, leaving the team four goals short despite a response on the scoresheet.

The goalkeeping numbers underline the different workloads. Southwick’s Ian Garvey made five saves while protecting the lead, whereas Granby goalkeeper Oliver Helbok reportedly made eight saves in a busy outing. His performance kept the margin from becoming even wider, but could not prevent defeat.

For Southwick, the combination of five scorers and a three-goal first half offers a strong platform. For Granby, the immediate priority is to limit early pressure and avoid another match in which the contest is effectively shaped before the break.

Next fixtures offer quick tests

Granby is scheduled to return at 4 p.m. Wednesday against Holyoke, giving the team little time to absorb the defeat. Southwick follows at 4 p.m. Thursday against Smith Vocational.

Those fixtures should reveal whether Southwick can carry its attacking variety into the next match and whether Granby can produce a sharper defensive start.
