Aurora Central Catholic Beats Marengo 3-0, Reaches 10 Wins

Leon provides the breakthrough

The report says Aurora Central Catholic controlled the early possession before Diego Leon opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Leon carried the ball into the area and finished with a left-footed effort that struck the frame before crossing the line.

Marengo created opportunities to respond, but freshman goalkeeper Daxton Wolff reportedly made four saves, including stops against Kevin Kaczkos and Sam Tucker. At the other end, Marengo goalkeeper Sebastian Mucha was even busier, making 13 saves to keep the deficit at one goal for much of the match.

Nordenberg and Acosta settle it

Aurora Central Catholic eventually turned territorial pressure into a clear advantage. The report says Owen Nordenberg doubled the lead in the 64th minute, heading in Omar Flores’ corner.

Alan Acosta then completed the scoring six minutes later with a left-footed strike from outside the area. Acosta had reportedly scored in the Chargers’ previous win over Plano, giving him another important contribution during a strong stretch.

The defensive approach also played a role. Aurora reportedly used a deeper line when Marengo had possession, limiting Tucker’s pace and reducing the space available for passes behind the back line.

A marker of sustained progress

According to the report, Aurora Central Catholic improved to 10-6, while Marengo fell to 8-11-2. More importantly for the Chargers, the victory extended a run of four straight 10-win seasons.

The result was also reportedly Aurora Central Catholic’s final home match of the season, making Nordenberg’s goal particularly timely on senior night. Attention now turns to the Chargers’ next fixture and whether this latest milestone can become a platform for a deeper postseason push.
