Whitefish are reportedly through after drawing 1-1 with Lockwood before winning the penalty shootout 4-2. Lockwood appeared to be heading through after Joao Pedro Silviera converted from the spot late on, but Tristan Irwin levelled in stoppage time after a Roen Chisholm assist.
That recovery could prove decisive beyond the result itself. Whitefish had to absorb pressure, respond under severe time pressure and then hold their nerve from the penalty mark.
The report says Whitefish will face Livingston in the semifinal, with the matchup scheduled to take place at Livingston.
Billings Central produced the more emphatic result, reportedly defeating Columbia Falls 4-0 as Cal Weisen scored a hat-trick. Skylar Sanchez also found the net, while Central controlled the contest with a strong attacking display.
Columbia Falls coach Byrd also insisted his side competed until the end.
“Os jogadores nunca desistiram e deram tudo de si”, he said.
For Billings Central, the performance offers momentum and a clear attacking reference point. Weisen’s finishing will draw attention, but the wider challenge is maintaining that ruthlessness against a Polson side that reportedly eliminated Bigfork on penalties after another 1-1 draw.
The two ties present contrasting narratives: Whitefish must build on resilience, while Billings Central will be expected to carry the confidence of a comprehensive win.
The next storyline is whether Whitefish can turn its escape against Lockwood into another composed knockout performance, and whether Polson can force Central into the kind of tense contest it has already navigated.
