The report says Orlando Pride built a two-goal lead before halftime. Luana converted a penalty after Solai Washington was brought down, before Washington added a second goal after running onto a pass from Marta.
That combination mattered. Orlando created enough separation to withstand Danielle Colaprico’s second-half response, although conceding after the interval kept the contest open. Luana’s reported first goal of the season also adds another attacking contributor to Orlando’s rotation.
Seattle Reign FC’s reported win was built on control. The Reign had 60% possession and allowed Chicago only one shot, limiting the home side’s opportunities to build pressure.
Maddie Mercado supplied the decisive edge with two goals, including a header that reportedly took her seasonal total to 10. Chicago’s late strike from Simone Charley changed the scoreline but not the pattern of the game. Seattle’s ability to combine possession with defensive restriction is the clearest performance marker from the round.
Portland Thorns’ draw with Bay FC followed a different script. Portland reportedly fell behind after Morgan Weaver opened the scoring, with Caroline Conti and Kennedy Fuller turning the match in Bay’s favour.
Caiya Hanks then struck less than four minutes from the end to secure a point. Bay also had a penalty overturned after a review, leaving the visitors to reflect on a missed opportunity while Portland can take encouragement from its late response.
The next league fixtures will reveal whether Orlando can protect early leads, Seattle can reproduce its defensive control and Portland can convert late fightbacks into wins.
