Balich Wonder Studio Plans North American Expansion

A bigger stage for live sport

The report says the company has delivered six World Cup ceremonies, as well as the opening ceremony for Milano Cortina 2026, the opening show for a Champions League final and pre-match programming for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

That portfolio gives the expansion more weight than a conventional office rollout. Balich is taking an established event-production model into markets filled with major rights holders, sponsors and broadcasters.

Ceremonies are no longer isolated moments before kick-off. They can shape a tournament’s identity, create sponsor inventory and generate content across television, social platforms and stadium screens. A local presence could help Balich pitch earlier, build relationships and tailor concepts to regional audiences.

Why New York, Los Angeles and Mexico City matter

New York and Los Angeles offer access to US sports, entertainment and advertising networks, while Mexico City provides a base in one of football’s most important markets. The report says the wider group intends to combine Banijay’s content and digital reach with experience in sport, media and investment.

That combination is central to the strategy. The opportunity is not only to produce a spectacular opening show, but to turn event expertise into repeatable intellectual property that can travel between tournaments and platforms.

The next test

The key question will be whether the new offices convert global credentials into local contracts. Success will be measured by the next cycle of tournament ceremonies, final preambles, fan festivals and branded live experiences-not simply by the number of locations on the map.

Balich’s next major football assignment will therefore be watched as a test of the expansion: can a company known for global spectacle become a year-round North American sports-entertainment partner?
