The narrow scoreline does not hide the importance of the result. Fulham had already seen Josh King hit the post before Bobb produced the decisive moment late in the contest.
That breakthrough matters beyond the three points. Fulham have now followed one win with another, giving Arbeloa’s team a platform to build from rather than another setback to explain.
Bobb’s contribution also underlines the value of attacking players capable of deciding tight matches. There was little separating the sides for much of the game, but Fulham found the one moment that Coventry could not answer.
Coventry had their own reason to feel frustrated. Calvin Bassey was denied a penalty by VAR after a shirt pull from Brandon Thomas-Asante, adding another layer to a match decided by fine margins.
Josh King’s effort against the post was similarly significant. Had it gone in, Fulham’s afternoon could have followed a very different path. Instead, Coventry were punished for failing to turn pressure and controversy into a goal.
The result will therefore encourage Fulham while leaving Coventry to consider how quickly promising passages of play must become tangible rewards.
For Arbeloa, the priority is clear: make this run more than a short-lived reaction. Back-to-back wins provide confidence, but Fulham must now show greater consistency to stay clear of danger.
The next league fixture will reveal whether Bobb’s late intervention was the start of a genuine recovery or simply another dramatic escape.
