Poku’s reported contract runs through the 2027-28 season, with an option to extend for 2028-29. The move would return him to the country where he began his professional career and give Vancouver another forward option.
The 23-year-old previously spent three seasons with Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League before moving to Belgium. His time at RWDM Brussels offered experience in European football; he now appears set to continue his development in MLS.
Poku also said he is eager to make his debut at BC Place and meet Whitecaps supporters, describing the move as a chance to help build on the club’s success.
For Vancouver, the reported signing adds a Canadian international to the attack. Sporting director Axel Schuster highlighted the qualities the club believes Poku can bring, saying: “Kwasi é um jovem e talentoso jogador da seleção canadense, que traz velocidade, movimentação inteligente e capacidade de finalização ao nosso ataque.”
That assessment points to a forward valued for pace, movement and finishing. Those attributes could give the Whitecaps more flexibility in attack, while a return to familiar surroundings may help Poku settle quickly. His previous Canadian club experience also means the move would not be his first step into the domestic game.
The focus will be on how quickly Poku adapts to Vancouver and earns a role in the team. He has spoken of wanting to continue the Whitecaps’ winning legacy; turning that ambition into regular contributions will be the next challenge if the reported move proceeds as described.
