Juventus and Napoli Enquire About Tottenham's Vicario

Why Vicario has attracted Serie A interest

Vicario’s Premier League experience makes him a credible option for clubs seeking an established number one. Juventus are reportedly searching for a new goalkeeper after other targets proved difficult to secure, while Napoli are preparing for significant change in the position.

A return to Italy could also appeal to Vicario. His representatives have reportedly indicated that a move to Turin would interest the player, giving Juventus an advantage if negotiations develop beyond an initial enquiry.

Napoli’s interest is also significant. The club is reportedly ready to move on from both Alex Meret and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, which would create an immediate opening for a proven replacement.

Tottenham already assessing replacements

Tottenham’s planning suggests Vicario’s position is not being treated as untouchable. Antonin Kinsky has impressed during his development, but De Zerbi reportedly wants a stronger alternative if the right opportunity emerges.

The leading names linked with Spurs include Bart Verbruggen, James Trafford and Anatoliy Trubin. Verbruggen appears to be the clearest fit for De Zerbi’s preferences, given the manager’s previous knowledge of the Brighton goalkeeper.

That succession planning matters. Any decision to sell Vicario would require Tottenham to secure a replacement capable of handling pressure immediately, rather than relying solely on Kinsky’s progress.

A three-way decision

Inter Milan’s earlier interest reportedly cooled after the club chose to promote Josep Martinez, leaving Juventus and Napoli as the more relevant Italian destinations. Tottenham, meanwhile, must balance a potential sale against the cost and risk of rebuilding the position.

The next stage of the transfer window will determine whether the enquiries become formal offers. If they do, Vicario’s future could become one of the first major tests of De Zerbi’s Tottenham rebuild.
