According to an update, Cleary opened an online fundraiser to help Perdomo with legal expenses and a potential immigration bond. She is reportedly being held at the North Lake Processing Center in Baldwin after an encounter with immigration authorities during a traffic stop in the Detroit area.
The circumstances surrounding her detention on May 26 have not been fully clarified. The campaign, launched on June 16, reportedly set a $20,000 target and had passed $3,000 the following day. Any unused funds are expected to support scholarships in Perdomo’s name.
Her mother, Liliana Gotopo, said the family was “muito satisfeita” with the initiative and stressed that the money could become crucial if a bond is approved.
The case highlights the financial uncertainty facing people held during immigration proceedings. The report cites immigration law specialist Marie Celentino, who said a bond that might have been around $3,000 a decade ago can now reach $10,000. Such payments generally must be made in full, making community support especially important.
Perdomo’s personal story has also strengthened the response around the team. Her family says she left Venezuela as an unaccompanied minor after experiencing gang violence. She has reportedly lived in the United States since 2022, completed high school in Detroit, played for St. Clair County Community College and joined Cleary in 2025.
Perdomo is expected to return to immigration court on June 26, when she may seek permission to continue the case outside detention through bond. The outcome is uncertain, but the fundraiser has given her teammates a way to keep supporting a player they describe as committed to both soccer and education.
