The situation moved beyond a packed bar. Videos shared online reportedly showed supporters kicking a football towards the balcony, with the ball landing on nearby vehicles. A small group also allegedly threw plants from the balcony.
The report says the pub acknowledged its gratitude for the turnout but also pointed to damage involving property and landscaping. The venue operates within a wider complex containing other businesses and residential areas, making crowd control a neighbourhood issue as well as a sporting one.
Earlier claims about the night’s sales were also disputed. Reports of thousands of beers sold and substantial revenue were later challenged by the pub, which argued that headline figures did not capture the damage caused.
Some supporters reportedly stayed behind to help clean up, offering a more positive ending to a night that had quickly become difficult to manage.
The Londoner was expected to reopen at 11am on Thursday, but the next England fixture could bring another major test. If supporters return in similar numbers, organisers will need stricter capacity controls, more security and a clearer dispersal plan before the next celebration begins.
