Huntley Rally Beats Prairie Ridge 2-1 in Volleyball

Huntley answers after slow start

The report says Prairie Ridge took the first set 25-20, but Huntley recovered to win the next two 25-21 and 25-23.

  • Mia Jacobelli led Huntley with 13 winning attacks.
  • Izzy Whitehouse added 12 winning attacks.
  • Izzy DeLeon recorded 37 assists.

The result reportedly left Huntley with a 23-3 overall record and a 14-1 conference mark. The narrow second- and third-set margins underline how important the comeback was in a match that could carry weight in the title race.

Competitive night across the conference

Several other volleyball results kept the local standings busy:

  • Burlington Central defeated McHenry 2-1, led by LaRaiya Cunningham-Duncan’s 10 winning attacks.
  • Crystal Lake Central beat Jacobs 2-0, with Jordyn Johnson producing 12 attacks and 11 digs.
  • Crystal Lake South swept Hampshire 2-0.
  • Cary-Grove earned its first conference win against Dundee-Crown.
  • Richmond-Burton beat Grant to reach 11 wins in 12 matches.

The report says South Beloit also swept Alden-Hebron, adding another decisive result to the area schedule.

Soccer, cross-country and tennis round out slate

In boys’ soccer, Huntley reportedly drew Hampshire 1-1, with Tyler Murray scoring for the Red Raiders and Eli Valdez making eight saves. Jacobs posted an 8-0 win over Cary-Grove, while Crystal Lake South and Prairie Ridge finished scoreless. Woodstock North fell 3-2 to Libertyville.

Hampshire reportedly won both team competitions at the Spring Grove cross-country meet. Gavin McInnis and Khloe Lundy, both of Richmond-Burton, claimed the individual titles. In girls’ tennis, McHenry defeated Johnsburg 3-1.

Huntley’s next results will determine whether its volleyball lead becomes a title-clinching run, while Hampshire’s soccer meeting with Crystal Lake South is the next local fixture to watch.
