Streator Face La Salle-Peru in Class 3A Orion Semifinal

Streator found a way through

The Bulldogs reportedly led after Enrique Rodriguez reacted quickly to a loose ball and finished during the first half. His attitude reflected the resilience required in a physical, weather-affected contest.

“Ever since club, I was taught to keep playing through the ball,” Rodriguez explained. “You never know what can happen, and in that case the goalie had a loose grip.”

That opportunism will be vital again. In a knockout match, chances can be limited, and Streator may need to turn another moment of pressure into a decisive goal.

La Salle-Peru remain the favourite

The report says La Salle-Peru controlled much of the second half before Damian Cortes levelled with a long-range free-kick through the rain. Their ability to sustain pressure under difficult conditions underlined why they enter the rematch with confidence of their own.

Streator goalkeeper Colin Byers and the Bulldogs’ defensive unit reportedly faced a demanding closing spell, with Brenden Fleming, Diego Flores, Keegan Gassman and Adrian Granados helping protect the draw.

That experience could matter, but La Salle-Peru are unlikely to be satisfied with another stalemate. They will expect to impose themselves earlier and avoid giving Streator another opportunity from a defensive mistake.

A different game awaits

Huey has already warned that the rematch could follow a different script. “But we can have a situation where it's a totally different game next week. We're going to go practice, we're going to go study, and of course they're going to go do the same thing.”

That is the central storyline for Wednesday in Orion: can Streator turn confidence into control, or will La Salle-Peru’s pressure finally decide the tie?
