A report says Arsenal’s interest in Pubill grew after last season’s Champions League semi-final meetings with Atletico, when the defender reportedly left a strong impression on Arteta and Arsenal’s staff.

That profile fits the modern Arteta template: athletic, tactically flexible and capable of slotting into different structures depending on the opponent.
The harder part is obvious. The update says Atletico Madrid consider Pubill an important part of their squad and are resisting the idea of a sale. Reports also suggest the Spanish club want to reinforce that status with improved terms, which is usually a clear message in a transfer window.
That does not mean Arsenal will walk away, but it does mean this is unlikely to be a straightforward chase. If there is a deal to be done, it would probably require persistence as much as money.
