For all the concern around LAFC’s recent form, the defensive platform still appears reliable.
That matters because LAFC are not blowing teams away at the moment. When the attack is short on rhythm, a goalkeeper in this kind of form becomes a results stabiliser.
A goalless away draw is not automatically poor business. The issue for LAFC is the trend around it.
The contrast is clear. The defensive identity has held up better than the attacking one. LAFC still look capable of staying in games, but right now they appear too dependent on moments rather than sustained pressure in the final third.
D.C. United are also reported to be winless in five, and this result fits the pattern. There was enough pressure to create openings, but not enough precision to finish them. A single save for Sean Johnson tells its own story: possession and territory did not become real attacking volume.
The next question for both sides is simple. Can LAFC rediscover their cutting edge without losing defensive balance, and can D.C. United turn decent spells into goals? If the answer does not come soon, both winless runs will start shaping the season more than any single clean sheet.
