Legends FC SCV Return to 2026 U.S. Club Soccer National Cup

A second chance after an unbeaten exit

The report says Legends FC finished the 2024 National Cup group stage unbeaten but drew all three matches and failed to advance. That record underlines the gap between competing effectively and producing the result required to reach the knockout rounds.

Morton now faces a clear benchmark. The team must convert its previous resilience into victories, particularly against opponents capable of punishing small mistakes over a short group campaign. The earlier appearance should remove some of the uncertainty surrounding the occasion, but it also raises expectations.

An unusual age profile

This year’s squad will reportedly compete in the under-17 division despite including players born between 2009 and 2011. Morton’s regular base has been built around 2010-born players, with younger athletes also involved, while 2009 players were added after an expected age-category change.

That structure gives the group a broader blend of experience and physical development. It also creates a demanding test against teams assembled specifically for the same age bracket.

A wider club storyline

Several players are said to have featured in the 2024 National Cup campaign, while others helped win a state title in 2025 at an older level before returning to Morton’s team. The report also says Morton wants to become the next Legends coach to win a national title, following Adam Waddell’s consecutive successes with the 2007 team in 2022 and 2023.

A separate 2013 girls team from L.A. Soccer Club of Santa Clarita Valley is also expected to compete in the under-13 division, adding another local storyline to the event.

When the group stage begins, Legends FC’s first measure of progress will be simple: avoid another run built entirely on draws.
