Tartan Army Bring Scottish Football Spirit to Miami

The Tartan Army leaves its mark

The account describes a march beginning in Little Havana and heading towards LoanDepot Park, with fans wearing kilts, Scotland shirts and distinctive hats. Songs celebrating John McGinn and Steve Clarke reportedly echoed through the streets.

Saltires carrying the names of Scottish towns and villages added a strong sense of identity to the gathering. It was familiar Tartan Army territory: loud, colourful and built around togetherness, even without a football match at the centre of the day.

Alan Leitch reportedly revealed how quickly the family’s plans came together: “vamos para os Estados Unidos, nosso voo sai em três horas e meia”. The spontaneous decision ended with Alan, Linn and their children joining the crowd in Miami.

More than a baseball result

The report says the singing continued inside the stadium, where American spectators appeared to embrace the atmosphere. Even after the Marlins’ narrow loss, Scottish supporters reportedly remained the main attraction, with groups leaving the ground still singing and laughing.

The heat provided its own challenge. Some fans adopted the traditional “taps aff” approach, while others simply tried to keep pace in Miami’s dry conditions. David Chalmers summed up the experience with another telling line: “Eu definitivamente não estou acostumado”.

The next time Scotland’s supporters travel in numbers, Miami will offer a useful reminder of their unique appeal. Whether the setting is a football stadium, a city centre or a baseball park, the Tartan Army can turn any journey into its own event.
