Petry was reportedly named the All-Lowcountry female player of the year for a second consecutive season, adding another honor to an already decorated school career.
The report says she finished the campaign with 27 goals and 21 assists, while starting for four consecutive state championship teams at Oceanside Collegiate.
The move gives Petry a chance to test herself in the college game after establishing herself as one of the region’s most accomplished school players.
Alahmad collected the men’s player-of-the-year award after helping Wando build a reported 23-match winning streak. The run ended against Clover in the Class AAAAA Division I state final, but the midfielder’s individual standing continued to rise.
He was selected to the state team, chosen for South Carolina’s squad in the Clash of the Carolinas, and has reportedly signed with Presbyterian College.
Tisdale’s praise points to the qualities behind that recognition: preparation, consistency and a strong mental approach.
The honors also reflected the strength of the region’s coaching ranks. Shannon Champ, Alistair DeLong, Mark Meyer and Hope Walters were reportedly recognized after guiding their teams to state titles.
On the men’s side, Jason Hamil and Maurice Walters shared the coaching award. Hamil led Academic Magnet to a seventh Class AA title, while Walters guided First Baptist to its first SCISA championship since 1991, according to the report.
The next storyline will be how Petry and Alahmad translate their decorated school careers into new challenges at Maryland and Presbyterian.
