Philadelphia Fan Festival to Host Pennsylvania Day

A local welcome before kick-off

The report says the event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., with free admission subject to advance registration. Performances are expected from The Philly Sports Guy Jamie Pagliei, Ben Franklin, West Powelton Steppers & Drum Squad and Philly Girls Jump.

The Ghanaian and Croatian communities in Pennsylvania are also set to be recognised as honorary Visit PA Playmakers before the match, placing the supporters at the centre of the afternoon.

That matters because fan festivals work best when they reflect the host city. The game may belong to the players, but the atmosphere belongs to the people gathered around it.

Football, mascots and a Pennsylvania twist

One of the afternoon’s headline attractions is expected to be the Pennsylvania Soccer Relay, scheduled for 4:10 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The report says teams will race with giant inflatable footballs through stations inspired by Pennsylvania.

The line-up is designed to be deliberately broad, bringing together Visit PA Playmakers, young members of the Ghanaian and Croatian communities, and mascots including Phang of Philadelphia Union and Hersh the Hershey Bar.

A Pennsylvania Pavilion will then host a public meet-and-greet until 5 p.m., with giveaways and further opportunities for visitors to engage with the state’s identity.

A World Cup welcome

The report says Anne Ryan, Pennsylvania’s assistant tourism secretary, views the tournament as a rare chance to present the state to an international audience. Melissa Piccoli of Philadelphia Soccer 2026 has similarly framed the event as a way to connect people from different backgrounds through football.

The next moment to watch is the transition from celebration to competition. As Ghana vs Croatia approaches at 5 p.m., Pennsylvania Day will aim to prove that the World Cup experience begins well before the first whistle.
