New Jersey Boys' Football: Early Attack and Defense

Point Pleasant Beach lead the attack

The report says Point Pleasant Beach have scored 35 goals in five games, averaging seven per match. Their defensive record strengthens the case: only nine goals conceded, leaving them with a reported goal difference of +26.

Other leading attacks include:

  • Hoboken: 28 goals in five games and a +23 goal difference.
  • St Joseph (Mont.): 30 goals across eight matches.
  • Harrison and Barnegat: 27 goals each from six games.
  • Don Bosco Prep: 19 goals in four matches, a reported rate of 4.75 per game.

Point Pleasant Beach therefore stand out not only for scoring volume, but for combining it with a relatively secure back line.

Defensive records are equally striking

Technology’s start may be the clearest example of efficiency. The report lists 24 goals scored and only two conceded in five games, producing a +22 differential.

Lakeland have posted a similar balance, scoring 26 and allowing four across six matches. St Benedict’s have conceded just two while scoring 23, while Howell have matched that attacking total and allowed three.

The strongest shutout records belong to Lower Cape May, Cliffside Park and Cherry Hill East, who are each reported to have conceded no goals. Lower Cape May have played five matches, while the other two have played four.

Small samples, strong early signals

The opening weeks provide an imperfect comparison, with teams having played between four and eight matches. Even so, the combination of high scoring rates and low concession totals gives several programs an early identity.

The next run of fixtures will test whether Point Pleasant Beach can maintain their attacking pace, and whether the unbeaten defensive records can survive stronger opposition.
