Wolves Reportedly Consider Formal Offer for Niko Sigur

A defensive midfielder with rising visibility

Sigur’s profile is built around protection and versatility rather than headline attacking numbers. The report says the Canada international has made 114 appearances for Hajduk Split, contributing five goals and five assists.

His international exposure has also increased. Sigur reportedly featured at the World Cup, appearing from the bench against Qatar and South Africa before starting against Morocco. That tournament experience gives him a stronger platform, although it does not remove the adaptation challenge of moving from Croatian football to the Championship.

For Wolves, the attraction lies in combining a defensive midfield option with a player still in his development curve.

Contract leverage matters

The report says Sigur’s Hajduk contract runs until 2028, giving the Croatian club a strong negotiating position. Any formal approach would therefore require Wolves to decide how much priority they place on the position and the player’s long-term value.

Wolves have reportedly already added Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez during the early stages of their reshaping. Sigur would represent a different type of recruitment: younger, less established and potentially suited to a squad expected to compete over a demanding Championship campaign.

That balance will be crucial. A player signed for future value must still contribute quickly if Wolves are targeting a promotion push.

The next step

For now, Sigur remains an evaluated target rather than an advancing transfer. The key development will be whether Wolves turn reported interest into an official proposal, particularly with his 2028 contract limiting Hajduk’s need to sell.

The coming weeks should reveal whether the midfielder becomes part of Peixoto’s first-choice rebuild or stays on the club’s wider summer shortlist.
