Alex Arroyo, Lesedi Sekhobo Earn Buffalo State Honours

Arroyo controls the tempo

Arroyo’s weekend was defined by volume and consistency. She recorded 37 assists and 12 digs as Buffalo State defeated Rochester in four sets, then followed that display with a career-high 39 assists against Geneseo.

Her work across the tournament also earned selection to the Bengal Challenge All-Tournament Team. The 39-assist performance gives Buffalo State a clear attacking platform: when Arroyo controls the first touch and keeps the ball moving, the Bengals can sustain pressure deep into matches.

  • 37 assists and 12 digs came against Rochester.
  • 39 assists against Geneseo marked a career high.
  • Buffalo State also faced John Carroll during the tournament.

Sekhobo finds his attacking rhythm

Sekhobo’s award reflects a sharp return in the final third. He supplied an assist against RIT before registering a goal and another assist in the win over Hilbert.

That sequence delivered four of his seven points for the season, including his second goal. It also moved him level for second in Buffalo State’s scoring standings. The forward’s ability to contribute both goals and assists gives the Bengals another attacking outlet as the schedule becomes more demanding.

Important tests are next

Arroyo will have an immediate opportunity to build on her tournament form when Buffalo State hosts Nazareth on Tuesday in a non-conference match starting at 18:00. Sekhobo and the men’s football team face a different challenge next Wednesday, when Cortland visits for Buffalo State’s opening conference fixture.

The next week should show whether Arroyo’s distribution and Sekhobo’s attacking output can carry beyond one strong tournament and one productive football week.
