Midseason Boys Soccer Poll Adds John Bapst at No. 6

New contenders reshape the middle

John Bapst’s arrival gives the poll a fresh contender just outside the established top five. The report credits the team with 25 points, placing it five ahead of Greely in seventh.

Fryeburg Academy’s 15 points put it two behind Yarmouth in ninth and leave little room for error across the bottom half of the top 10. The narrow margins mean one strong result could alter several positions in the next update.

Teams outside the top 10 remain within reach. Hall-Dale, Oceanside and Scarborough reportedly collected eight votes each, underlining the depth of the field.

Lewiston and Brunswick set the pace

The report says Lewiston stayed first for a second consecutive poll, earning 84 points and four first-place votes. Brunswick followed on 80 points, also receiving four first-place votes.

That four-point gap gives Lewiston the advantage, but it is hardly decisive. Deering, now third on 77 points, remains only seven points behind the leader and received one first-place vote.

The leading two teams are both Class A North sides, and the report highlights wins over Edward Little, now eighth on 18 points, as an important shared reference point in the regional race. Gorham sit fourth on 62 points, with Thornton Academy fifth on 51.

The next test

The next poll will show whether John Bapst can consolidate its place among the leading challengers and whether Fryeburg can climb from 10th. At the top, Brunswick and Deering have a narrow window to close Lewiston’s early advantage before the rankings become more settled.
