Spanish Springs leads the way

The report says senior runner Taizley Felsted won the girls’ race at the Truckee Invitational in 18:53.0 on 26 September. Her Cougars teammate Roonie Murdock also reportedly scored twice in a 4-1 football win over Reed.

Sophomore Maddie Fritz strengthened Spanish Springs’ case in volleyball, recording 14 kills and nine digs during a straight-sets victory over Reno. The Cougars won 26-24, 25-16, 25-20, according to the update.

Goals headline the football nominations

Several players made their mark in decisive results:

  • Lola Castillo reportedly scored four in South Tahoe’s 12-0 win over Incline.
  • Adeline Clements produced two goals and three assists for McQueen against Hug.
  • Lia Ferretto recorded a hat-trick and an assist in Reno’s 9-1 victory over North Valleys.
  • Sydney Hawkins scored twice as Elko defeated Fernley 4-0.

Those performances underline the attacking quality across the regional nominations, with individual contributions driving emphatic team results.

Volleyball and golf add depth

Douglas junior Hayley Rocha reportedly delivered 18 kills, 10 aces and 14 digs in a straight-sets win over Galena. Fernley’s Trista Menesini followed 21 kills in one victory with 19 in a five-set defeat by Spring Creek.

Carson senior Emma Sanders also contributed 12 kills and nine digs, while Bishop Manogue golfer Ella Rawson completed the list after winning at Hidden Valley with a round of 72.

The next key date is the regional tournament at Eagle Valley East on 30 September and 1 October, where the nominees will have another chance to strengthen their claims.
