Tiima Stars as Collingswood Defeat Paulsboro 2-1

A difficult handover

The report says Vukovic-Gartlan suffered a reported leg fracture during Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat by Haddon Heights. His absence left Collingswood without one of its most experienced players and handed Tiima a major opportunity.

Tiima had reportedly spent much of the season with the junior varsity team, although he had already appeared for the senior side. This was different: a division rivalry, a starting goalkeeper suddenly unavailable and little room for error.

Tiima said the responsibility was straightforward: “Eu só precisava entrar por ele. Era responsabilidade. Ocupar o lugar dele e fazer o que ele faria naquela situação”.

Tiima answers the pressure

The report credits Tiima with seven saves as Collingswood held on. Victor Nguyen and Steven Carrillo reportedly put Collingswood two goals ahead before Drake Williams pulled Paulsboro back into the contest with a powerful effort around the middle of the second half.

The reaction from coach Emily Foley was equally clear. “Mesmo não sendo o primeiro jogo dele na equipe principal, havia uma pressão imensa”, Foley said. “Ele lidou muito bem com isso. Lidou realmente muito bem.”

For a young goalkeeper, the value of that kind of night goes beyond the result. Tiima was not simply asked to fill a shirt; he was asked to provide calm after a disruptive injury. His reported performance gave Collingswood a platform when the match threatened to turn.

The next challenge

The next test will be whether Tiima can carry that confidence into Collingswood’s coming fixtures. The report says the team has now won two of its last three matches after a difficult opening stretch, and Tiima’s emergence could become an important storyline while Vukovic-Gartlan’s reported absence continues.
