Staten Island Boys Tournament Unites 13 Local Teams

Five matches open the tournament

The reported opening round takes place on Saturday, October 3, with games spread across several Staten Island venues:

  • Tottenville vs Petrides, 10 a.m., at Petrides
  • St. Joseph by-the-Sea vs Staten Island Academy, 2 p.m.
  • Port Richmond vs Susan Wagner, 3:30 p.m.
  • St. Peter’s vs Moore Catholic, 4 p.m.
  • MSIT vs CSI/McCown, 6 p.m.

The final three fixtures are scheduled for the St. Joseph by-the-Sea field, giving the hosts an early opportunity to benefit from familiar surroundings.

Seeds create a demanding quarterfinal path

The quarterfinals are reportedly scheduled for Sunday, October 4, with the tournament’s leading seeds entering at this stage.

  • Monsignor Farrell faces the Port Richmond-Susan Wagner winner at 1 p.m.
  • Curtis, the top seed, meets the MSIT-CSI/McCown winner at 3 p.m.
  • New Dorp, seeded third, plays Tottenville or Petrides at 3:30 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., the winner of St. Peter’s-Moore Catholic meets the winner of St. Joseph by-the-Sea-Staten Island Academy at Petrides.

The seeding also provides a clear public-private balance. Curtis, New Dorp and Tottenville represent public schools, while Monsignor Farrell, St. Peter’s and St. Joseph by-the-Sea occupy private-school seed positions.

A borough-wide final stage

The semifinal double-header is set for Saturday, October 10, at Monsignor Farrell, with matches at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The reported final follows on Sunday, October 11, at 2 p.m.

That closing weekend will reveal whether the top seeds control the bracket or an opening-round winner can disrupt the tournament’s first championship race.
