North Park Hold Off Augustana 2-1 After Late Karubas Goal

Banke keeps Augustana level

Elias Banke was central to Augustana’s resistance. The report says the goalkeeper made nine saves, including stops on all three of North Park’s first-half efforts on target.

North Park also created the clearer early pressure, registering eight first-half attempts compared with Augustana’s three. Banke’s performance kept the contest scoreless at the interval and gave the home side a platform to build from.

Augustana briefly threatened after the restart, with Eddie Smith testing the visiting goalkeeper before Silas Wise added another attempt.

North Park breaks through

The report says North Park finally opened the scoring in the 61st minute, then added a second goal in the 83rd. That two-goal cushion appeared to settle a match that had remained finely balanced for long periods.

Augustana’s defensive work had limited the damage, but the Vikings could not turn their own chances into an equaliser. The difference was North Park’s finishing once the game opened up in the second half.

Karubas gives Augustana hope

Wes Karubas cut the deficit in the 87th minute, converting after Chris Dingle created the opening. The report says Karubas finished with Augustana’s only goal and two shots.

The late strike gave Augustana a final push, but North Park held firm to protect the reported victory. For the home side, the performance offered evidence of resilience, yet the lack of a second goal remained costly.

Augustana are reportedly scheduled to host Wheaton in their next CCIW match on 7 October. The priority will be turning Banke’s individual excellence and Karubas’ attacking threat into a complete result.
