Gardiner Girls' Football Team Unbeaten Through 10 Matches

Rebuilding without panic

The Tigers entered the season after six seniors departed from last year’s side, forcing coach Jess Prince to rethink combinations and responsibilities. Rather than rely on one-to-one replacements, Gardiner reportedly used preseason to test a reshaped lineup featuring three freshmen and several returning players in new roles.

That approach has produced a team still learning, but increasingly comfortable with its identity. The report says Gardiner has scored 25 goals and conceded nine, an early indication that the rebuild has not weakened its competitive edge.

One injury, several adjustments

Senior defender Sara Mansir’s injury created another challenge. The report says midfielder Molly Takatsu moved into the back line, Lexi Dyer stepped into Takatsu’s midfield role and senior Kaetlyn Stevens moved into outside midfield.

Those changes have opened the door for a younger group. Freshmen Olivia Ketner, Evalyn Grover and striker Riley Antognoni have reportedly become important contributors, with Antognoni’s pace causing problems for opposing defences.

At the other end, junior goalkeeper Adela Ricker is handling her first season as a starter. She has reportedly recorded three clean sheets, protected by a defensive unit that includes Takatsu, Zoey Epperson, Cheyenne Goodman and Lilah Serber.

A chance to change the postseason story

Gardiner’s recent reported wins over Morse and Messalonskee have strengthened its case as a genuine contender, but the Tigers still have unfinished business. They have lost away quarter-finals in each of the past three seasons.

A top-four finish would reportedly bring a home quarter-final, a significant advantage for a young squad. The next challenge is maintaining composure as expectations rise-and proving this unbeaten start can become a postseason breakthrough.
