The Maryville match turned on a narrow margin. The Saints twice levelled the contest after UMSL had moved ahead, while Maryville’s 12 blocks helped force the Tritons into a fifth-set fight.
At 14-14 in the decider, the report says Alayna Santel produced her match-high 22nd kill before serving the ace that completed the victory. That sequence gave UMSL the response required in a set where one attacking error or defensive lapse could have ended its run.
Santel also led the Tritons against Missouri S&T with 14 kills, maintaining her influence after the more demanding five-set contest.
The weekend was not simply about extending the streak. It showed UMSL winning through late-set pressure against Maryville and then controlling Missouri S&T over three sets.
The report credits the Tritons with limiting Missouri S&T to a.157 hitting percentage. Skylar Weaver supplied 25 digs against Maryville and 21 against Missouri S&T, while setter Marly Burbach recorded 63 assists in the five-set win and 43 in the sweep.
Maggie Johnson added 18 kills against Maryville and 11 against the Miners. Bridget Cassady and Brooklyn Young each contributed 14 kills in the more physical opening match.
The update lists UMSL at 13-5 overall and says the Tritons have already secured a place in the conference tournament, with five GLVC fixtures remaining. That changes the immediate target: preserving momentum now matters as much as qualification.
The next storyline arrives at the Midwest Region Crossover in Hammond, Indiana. UMSL will face a new test outside conference play, with its 11-match run and unbeaten GLVC record creating a higher standard for every subsequent performance.
