Glacier Sweeps Flathead in Crosstown Soccer Double

Winkler leads the girls’ response

The update says Flathead briefly turned the girls’ match into a contest after Camas Bushnell punished a spilled rebound to make it 1-1. Glacier answered quickly, with Winkler restoring the lead before adding two more goals as the Wolfpack moved into a commanding position.

“The 1-1 tie really woke us up a little bit,” Winkler said. “Throughout the year, coach Thompson has taught us that when we face adversity we need to rise above it.”

The report says Glacier led 7-1 at half-time and continued to attack after the interval. Winkler completed her four-goal haul, while Addison Brisendine, Bailee Dahlman, Lucy Holloway, Caitryn Vander Vloedt and Portia Hammer were also credited with goals.

Evenson sets the tone for the boys

The boys’ match reportedly followed a similar pattern, only with Glacier taking control almost immediately. Brecken Evenson is said to have scored within the opening seconds, then added another after Gavin Hammer gave Flathead a brief lift.

“It bounced off a player and I took a touch and shot it,” Evenson said. “It was nothing drawn up. It was just in the moment.”

Glacier reportedly led 5-1 at the break before Evenson completed his four-goal performance. Oliver Poitra, Madrid Stephan, Bridger Wilson and Zander Schmautz also featured on the scoresheet, with Stephan said to have supplied three assists.

Third seeds enter knockout football

The report says both Glacier teams finished the regular season as third seeds. The boys are due to face Missoula Big Sky, while the girls are expected to meet Helena Capital in first-round playoff action next Tuesday.

With times and venues still to be announced, the next test will show whether this Crosstown surge can carry into the postseason.
