IHSAA Girls Soccer Regional Finals Preview: 3 Matchups

Trinity reaches new ground

The report says Trinity Academy defeated Boone Grove 3-2 in the semifinal, with Audrey Lee scoring twice and Veronica Drake adding the other goal. The result reportedly secured the Titans’ first regional final.

Trinity will face Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian in the 1A final at Westview, scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. Blackhawk Christian is listed as seventh in the rankings, while Trinity is said to have beaten three ranked opponents during October.

For a team built around five veterans, the opportunity represents a significant step. Milligan’s emphasis on composure could prove just as important as attacking quality in a final.

Saint Joseph faces Bellmont

South Bend Saint Joseph enters the 2A final after a reported 3-0 semifinal victory over Illiana Christian. Lydia Goodsell scored twice, while Emily Keegan completed the victory.

The report lists Saint Joseph second in the rankings and Bellmont ninth. The teams are scheduled to meet at Marian at 2 p.m., with Saint Joseph carrying the confidence of a reported 4-0 win over Bellmont in August.

“We’re jogando bem, encaixando e com fome pela próxima oportunidade,” Saint Joseph coach Phil DePauw reportedly said. The message reflects a team that believes its best football is still ahead.

Marian chasing six straight

In 3A, Mishawaka Marian reportedly beat Goshen 3-0, with goals from Milana Micola, Kendall Bradley and Aubrey Bradley.

The defending 2A state champion is pursuing a sixth consecutive regional title against Crown Point at Penn, also at 2 p.m. Saturday. Crown Point is listed 14th in the rankings.

The weekend’s finals offer three different storylines: Trinity’s breakthrough, Saint Joseph’s test against a familiar opponent and Marian’s bid to extend its remarkable run. The winners will carry that momentum into the next stage of the state tournament.
