Bayonne Beats Hoboken 2-0 to Win Hudson County Final

A final shaped by old pain

The rematch reportedly carried a full season of unfinished business. Bayonne had arrived at the previous final as favourite but left without the title after a second-half defensive mistake. This time, the response was calmer and more controlled.

“Logo depois do jogo, já pensávamos em dar a volta por cima”, Gaetani added. The report says 16 players from that earlier squad returned, giving the victory an emotional thread that stretched beyond one night.

Bayonne controlled the decisive moments

Jenna Gaetani reportedly opened the scoring in the 26th minute, reacting quickest after Kylie Galano’s cross was deflected by Hoboken goalkeeper Jenna Snider.

Mikenna Raftery then settled the final in the 77th minute, finishing a move that began in Bayonne’s defensive half. Gaetani supplied the final pass, underlining her influence at both ends of the decisive moments.

At the other end, the report credits Kali Dux-O'Sullivan with four saves as Bayonne protected its clean sheet. The result also reportedly completed an unbeaten campaign against Hudson County opponents.

A title with a wider meaning

Bayonne had already secured the HCIAL American Division crown earlier in the month, making the county championship a second major reward in the same season.

“Trabalhamos duro todos os dias e tentamos liderar o meio-campo”, said Samara Porch, who reportedly helped set the tempo alongside Gaetani and Kelsey Kopacz. Porch also described the victory as a fitting send-off for older players: “Nosso objetivo era que as veteranas terminassem invictas no condado.”

The next challenge will be sustaining that standard. Hoboken will have the next meeting circled, while Bayonne must prove this was more than revenge - it was the beginning of a new county era.
