Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid has become uncertain after the club’s position reportedly shifted. He had been expected to remain at the Bernabeu following Jose Mourinho’s return as manager, but Madrid now appear open to a sale if their valuation is satisfied.
The 26-year-old former Monaco midfielder would add experience in the defensive and central midfield roles. He has also made four appearances for France at the World Cup, underlining his international standing.
Manchester United have already strengthened midfield this summer. Youri Tielemans arrived in a cut-price deal, while Andrey Santos joined in a reported £50m move. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow has also signed, but officials are still considering whether another midfield addition is required.
Danilo is being reviewed as a less direct alternative. The Brazil international is currently with Botafogo and previously made 62 appearances for Nottingham Forest during his Premier League spell. Palmeiras and Zenit St Petersburg have reportedly submitted offers in the region of £25m, while Newcastle are also interested.
Tchouameni would give United a more established option at the base of midfield, potentially allowing the club to balance technical quality with defensive coverage. His profile is different from the recruitment already completed, making the move a question of squad structure rather than simple numbers.
Danilo offers Premier League experience and may represent a different route in the market. However, reported interest from Newcastle and existing offers could make competition for his signature more immediate.
Real Madrid’s asking price will determine whether United turn interest into negotiations. The club must also decide whether Tchouameni offers enough value after investing in Tielemans and Santos.
If United step back from the Madrid deal, Danilo could become the more practical target, although Newcastle’s involvement and reported bids could accelerate his situation. For now, both options remain under review and no transfer has been confirmed.
