LAFC has reportedly completed Boudri’s transfer to Hammarby IF, although the move has not been independently confirmed. The 21-year-old midfielder joined the Los Angeles side on a three-year contract in January, but struggled to establish himself amid visa problems, disrupted training and injuries, according to the report.
Hammarby are reportedly paying US$3.7 million, a fee that would make Boudri the most expensive signing in Allsvenskan history. The Swedish club will now hope the move gives the player the platform he could not find in MLS, although he has yet to make his debut.
Boudri’s exit is part of a wider reshaping at LAFC. The report says he is the fifth player aged 22 or under to leave the squad since the end of May. Lorenzo Dellavalle has departed by mutual agreement, while Adrian Wibowo and Matt Evans have reportedly joined FC Wacker Innsbruck on loan. Nathan Ordaz has also been linked with a move to D.C. United for US$2.375 million.
Coach Marc Dos Santos insists the strategy is not a retreat from youth. “A juventude vai ser substituída por juventude,” he said, indicating that LAFC intends to replace young players with others who better fit the club’s preferred model.
The only reported incoming move in the current window is Yevhen Cheberko, a 28-year-old Ukrainian defender arriving from Columbus in exchange for an international roster slot.
Boudri’s first appearance for Hammarby remains uncertain after he was reportedly unavailable for the club’s Europa League qualifier against Anderlecht.
For LAFC, attention turns to the upcoming home match against Sporting Kansas City at BMO Stadium. The report lists LAFC on 30 points and Sporting Kansas City on 14, though Kansas City has reportedly won three of its last five matches under Raphaël Wicky.
