Tottenham Hold Firm on Djed Spence Transfer Fee

Interest has grown

Spence entered the tournament viewed as a player whose Tottenham career had stalled. His involvement in England’s run, including a notable display against Norway, appears to have changed the market around him.

Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs considering a move, while Newcastle United and Everton have also been linked with the 25-year-old. The interest gives Tottenham leverage, particularly if more than one club decides to test the asking price.

For Liverpool, Spence’s ability to operate on either side of defence is the obvious attraction. That versatility could appeal to Andoni Iraola’s tactical plans, although a substantial fee would require the club to view him as more than a depth option.

Tottenham’s selection problem

The report says Spence was available before the tournament after being told he was not central to Roberto De Zerbi’s long-term plans. His situation at club level appears difficult even after his England performances.

Pedro Porro is reportedly established as the first-choice right-back after signing a new long-term contract. On the left, Andy Robertson and Destiny Udogie are said to remain ahead of Spence. That leaves no obvious starting position, strengthening the case for a transfer despite his rising reputation.

Tottenham therefore face a familiar decision: retain a versatile player whose value has improved, or cash in while interest is strong. The club’s reported valuation will determine whether suitors see an opportunity or an excessive premium.

The next step is likely to come from Liverpool. A formal approach would test Spurs’ resolve, while continued interest from Newcastle and Everton could push the price higher before the transfer window closes.
