Derby County Pair Zetterström and Langås Reportedly Selected

Zetterström earns Sweden chance

Jacob Widell Zetterström reportedly heads to the tournament after establishing himself as Derby’s first-choice goalkeeper. The report highlights a series of strong performances during the domestic campaign, including an important display against QPR while the club remained in contention for the play-offs.

Sweden are reported to face Tunisia on 15 June, the Netherlands on 20 June and Japan on 26 June. Zetterström could therefore find himself tested against a variety of styles, with Sweden also boasting attacking talent such as Viktor Gyökeres and Alexander Isak.

For the Derby goalkeeper, the tournament represents a significant step after making the number-one position his own at club level.

Langås’ rapid rise

Langås’ route to the World Cup has been more eventful. He reportedly joined Derby from Viking FK in January 2025 before an injury interrupted his early spell in England.

The defender then returned after the March international break and is said to have played a role in keeping Derby in the promotion race until the final day. His reported inclusion places him alongside Norway stars Martin Ødegaard and Erling Haaland.

Norway’s schedule is expected to begin against Iraq on 16 June, followed by Senegal on 23 June and France on 26 June.

Derby’s attention will now turn to how their two reported internationals handle the tournament spotlight. Their performances could shape the next chapter at Pride Park, while further international exposure may also increase interest in both players during the next transfer window.
