Being a football legend and leading your team to a unique Champions League double apparently isn’t enough for Zinedine Zidane to keep his job at Real Madrid.
According to the Daily Mail, Madrid has made an approach to Mauricio Pochettino’s representatives.
Spurs will take a firm stance and attempt to resist all overtures – but it won’t be easy. Real have a reputation for eventually getting their man.
Pochettino’s contract runs until 2021 and does not contain an escape clause. The only way he’ll be allowed to leave by chairman Daniel Levy is if the North London club is made a huge offer it just can’t refuse.
The danger then is that the team’s relatively underpaid stars like Harry Kane and Dele Alli may be tempted to follow their manager to Madrid.
Real are fourth in La Liga, a hefty 19 points behind leaders Barcelona, and the team suffered a humiliating Copa del Rey defeat by Leganes. A loss in the Champions League to PSG may seal Zidane’s plight.
