Man City dramatically pulled out of the transfer race for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez – because he wanted too much money.
The Chilean’s pay demands would have leapfrogged him above City’s established stars and coach Pep Guardiola, as well as the club’s ownership, decided enough was enough and pulled the plug on any deal.
The decision put Man United in prime position with a reported £48 million offer on the table, but Chelsea are said to be looking at hijacking the move with a late bid.
Arsenal have little say in the matter – in the summer Sanchez will be a free agent – but they still want Henrik Mkhitaryan, United’s forgotten star, and a swap could yet speed up the process.
Let’s see what Chelsea do. Maybe Liverpool will see Sanchez as the missing ingredient in their team, as well?
