- Paul Pogba video re-launches throwback Adidas Predator shoe.
- Laceless version on sale with more classic lace-up boot to follow.
- Watch out for test runs involving Dele Alli, Ivan Rakitic and Mesut Ozil.
After killing off the iconic shoe a couple of years ago, Adidas have U-turned and revived the Predator with a brand new version for 2018.
The Predator 18+ is laceless, with the classic black, white and red colour design being tweaked to a more bronzed metallic orange.
As you can see from the video, Paul Pogba is unveiling the new version, with a bit of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins thrown in…
As well as Pogba, Dele Alli, Ivan Rakitic and Mesut Ozil will be the feature players, with Daily Blind, Matts Hummels, Miralem Pjanić and Hakan Çalhanoğlu also set to give them a run out.
Sam Handy, VP of Design for adidas Soccer, said: “When designing the Predator 18+ we wanted to create the most innovative boot on the market while staying true to the very ethos of what made the Predator such an iconic boot. We wanted to create a boot for those players who control the game through a killer touch or defense-splitting pass. The new Predator will provide athletes such as Paul Pogba and Dele Alli with the tools they need to maximize their own creativity; such as the introduction of a CONTROL skin and a new hybrid stud configuration to support the dynamic movement required for professional athletes.”
With ankle socks rather than laces, the Adidas Predator 18+ features all the hallmarks of the classic boot, with the rubbery ‘swerve’ ridges and plush internal cushioning all present and correct.
A lace-up version is also in the works.
Here’s a bonus on the making of the Pogba Predator film.
