Andres Iniesta has never been short of bottle – but now the Spanish midfielder has reportedly agreed a deal to move to a China Super League club in the summer with two million bottles of wine as the deal breaker.
The Barcelona legend, 33, is expected to make an official announcement over his future after the Copa del Rey final.
Spanish news site Marca reports Iniesta has already agreed to join an unnamed Chinese club — after promises he would sell around two million bottles of wine there.
“A big part of Iniesta’s contract in the Far East will involve plans to advertise his product (wine) in a burgeoning market and this serves as further evidence that the Spaniard has big plans that extend well beyond the Chinese Super League,” says Marca.
His family winery, Bodega Iniesta, launched in 2010, and sells wines from the tiny region of Fuentealbilla, which is where the star was born, with Corazon Loco his most famous label.
It is reported that his Barcelona team-mates are aware of his decision, and it needs to be made official before April 30.
